The roman conquest
The Romans came from city called Rome in Italy. Italy is a country in western Europe.
the Romans first tried to conquer Britain in 55 B.C under the rule of a roman general called Julius Caesar he led his army across the English channel to Britain he wanted to make Britain part of Rome's fast growing empire the brittish Celts fought back bravely and Julius ceaser soon went back to Gaul which is now known as France. the next year in 54 B.C Julius Caesar to conquer Britain again this time he had 30,000 men with him he went back to Rome because he thought Britain was not worth a long war.nearly and hundred years later in A.D 43 the Romans conquered Britain again but this time in order by the roman emperor Claudius they were sucessful in conquering britain and conquered southern England and wales.
